Mission Statement

Our Mission: To provide contemporary, compassionate, cost effective oral and maxillofacial surgical services in a personal, private and professional manner.

Oral Surgery

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is defined as the surgical specialty which includes the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial (face and skeleton) region. At Austin Surgical Arts we practice the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal to corrective jaw surgery. This includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.

Oral Surgeons

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, our doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions.

Our surgical team consists of:

Dr. William Buchanan   Dr. John K. Jones
Dr. Ann H. Kristovich   Dr. Michael Patton

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically placed into the bone of the jaw to replace missing teeth. The implants act as tooth root substitutes. Healthy bone bonds with the titanium creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt within the mouth. The extraction of wisdom teeth is necessary when they are prevented from properly erupting. Early removal is recommended to avoid problems and to decrease any surgical risk.

Jaw Surgery

Orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery) is needed when jaws don't meet correctly and/or teeth don't seem to fit. People who can benefit from jaw surgery include those with an improper bite or jaws that are positioned improperly.

IV Sedation, Anesthesia

A variety of anesthesia choices are available, appropriate to the patient's procedure, to assure the patient comfort and peace of mind. These include Oral Sedation, Nitrous Oxide, Intravenous Sedation, and General Anesthesia.

Facial Fractures

Facial injuries impart a high degree of physical and emotional trauma to patients. Our surgeons are uniquely qualified to manage and treat facial trauma. Types of injuries range from injuries of teeth to severe injuries of the skin and bones of the face.
